'Attack on Titan' season 2 news, release date: Still in production; expected to premiere this year
The second season of the anime series "Attack on Titan" or "Shingeki no Kyojin" in Japanese is rumored to premiere later this year. Recent information also revealed that the anime is currently in production.
Anime director Tetsuro Araki just recently shared an update of the second season in an interview with the Japanese magazine Bessatsu Shonen (print version) April 2016 issue. The translation by Fuku Shuu of the interview revealed that the team behind the anime is still in the production process.
Araki also admitted that he will be extra cautious with this anime. Because the story is impressive, he is preparing himself mentally "to face the production challenges." He added, "To animate Shingeki no Kyojin is a cultural undertaking, and because I understand that this is work that will have historical value, I absolutely cannot make mistakes. I'll continue to treat it as an extensive series that requires much in-depth investigation and design."
The manga's, where the anime is based from, author Hajime Isayama also explains the Sasha Blouse changes in the second season, which is related to the recent chapters in the manga. Sasha Blouse is part of the Survey Corps and the former 9th best of the 104th Trainees Squad. Her speech patterns in the second season will be changed from standard language to local dialect.
Isayama said, "Sasha hides her native speech on purpose — because she has always considered it to be somewhat shameful. It also expresses the image of a 'New Sasha.'"
Both Isayama and Araki have also discussed the part of the story where Reiner is revealed as the Armored Titan. They wanted the revelation to be good but not similar to the unveiling of the Female Titan's real identity.
The 25th and the last episode of season 1, which was aired late in 2013, showed the trio — Eren, Mikasa, Armin — and the Survey Cops' counter attack toward a Female Titan in Stohess district.
