'Agent Carter' season 2 episode 3 spoilers: Peggy continues to investigate Zero Matter; mysterious substance affects Jason Wilkes and Whitney Frost
Season 2 of "Agent Carter" gave its viewers a delightful treat by airing a two-hour premiere episode. Peggy Carter relocates to Los Angeles after heeding Chief Daniel Sousa's call for help with a new case. Feeling ready to move on from the loss of Steve Rogers, Peggy decides to move on with Sousa. However, as she arrives in L.A., she discovers that Sousa had moved on as well.
Peggy then meets handsome scientist Jason Wilkes, who suddenly disappears after an explosion of Zero Matter.
In next week's episode titled "Better Angels," Peggy continues to investigate the truth about Zero Matter and the mysterious council that controls it.
According to the promo for the upcoming season, Peggy will be up against a new lethal enemy. With new gadgets from Howard Stark and help from friend Jarvis and colleague Sousa, Peggy will do whatever it takes to crack the case.
According to showrunner Michele Fazekas, the introduction of Zero Matter, as seen in "Doctor Strange," gives "Agent Carter" deeper ties into the Marvel Universe. Based on the comic books, Zero Matter "can be a gas, a solid, a liquid. It gives people superpowers, it makes people villains. It can kill you. We liked all of that and how we could mold it into the story we wanted to tell."
In the recently aired premiere episode, both Wilkes and Whitney Frost were exposed to Zero Matter. The upcoming episodes will show how this mysterious substance will affect them both.
Peggy will try to help Wilkes as she feels responsible for what had happened to him. Wilkes continues to help the team learn more about Zero Matter but it will not be easy for him as exposure to it takes a toll physically and emotionally
Frost, on the other hand, sees her exposure to Zero Matter as a gift. She welcomes the arrival of her powers as it allows her accomplish her villainous plans. The second season will focus on how she transforms into Madam Masque, the main villain this season.
Season 2 of "Agent Carter" airs every Tuesday at 9 p.m. ET on ABC.
