The Mi Band 2 is the new fitness band from Xiaomi and it is going to have to take on the Fitbit Blaze in the market in a head to head competition. Here is how these two dissimilar-looking devices compare in a face-off.

Design

Coming to design, the Fitbit Blaze has the appearance of a smartwatch. It has a square body and edges that are not rounded but are sharp. However, this device also functions as a fitness tracker and its case comes in one color, silver. The straps for the device are made from elastomer and they are available in three colors but there are also leather versions in gray, black and brown. There is also an optional stainless steel strap available for the device but it needs to be purchased separately.

The Xiaomi Mi Band 2 does not masquerade as a smartwatch and looks like a typical fitness band. Its strap is made from silicone and comes in four colors, namely blue, black, orange and green. As for the body, it is mainly composed of a screen that is covered with a layer of scratch-resistant glass and a physical button that is positioned below it. Also, the screen is pretty basic but it is a definite improvement compared to the first edition of the device.

As for the Fitbit Blaze, it cannot survive being dunked in water and can only withstand splashes while the Xiaomi Mi Band 2 comes with an IP67 waterproof rating. In terms of operating systems, the Fitbit Blaze is compatible with iOS and Android devices while the Mi Band 2 has the same functionality.

Display

Onboard the Mi Band 2 is an OLED display measuring 0.42-inches while the Fitbit Blaze has a 1.75 mm display with a resolution of 240 x 180 pixels.

Hardware

Nothing much is known about the hardware present on the Fitbit Blaze and the Mi Band 2 as details have not been released for them.

Sensors

There is a heart rate sensor onboard the Mi Band 2 and the device also vibrates when notifications or calls are received on the paired smartphone. As for the Fitbit Blaze, it has a gyroscope, altimeter, 3-axis accelerometer and a heart rate sensor.

Price

In terms of price, the Mi Band 2 is cheaper and has a $39.99 price tag, while the Fitbit Blaze costs around $200.
