The "X-Men" franchise has, arguably, been one of the best superhero movies of all time. There is no doubt that the last X-Men movie titled "X-Men: Days of Future Past" did extremely well at the box-office. In fact, The Hollywood Reporter pegged it to be the top-grossing title under the 20th century FOX and Marvel Cinematic Universe banner with an estimated earnings of $500.2 million globally.

X-Men fans know that a post-credits scene of the latest movie, "X-Men: Days of Future Past" provided a glimpse into the next movie's plot. Screenwriter Simon Kinberg confirmed to IGN that the scene was indeed a teaser into "X-Men: Apocalypse" but corrected that the movie does not take place in Egypt, as it seems in the scene. The post-credit scene shows a dessert with millions of people worshipping someone. Kinberg revealed that the next movie will take place in the 1980s and apocalypse will not be a young boy. In fact, the villain is touted to be the worst one in X-Men history and makes Magneto seem less menacing.

It was previously speculated that the movie would be set in Ancient Egypt since comic book fans know that Apocalypse was born in Aqaba around 3,000 B.C. The villain is more powerful than Magneto, can adapt to various environments and can heal himself. This makes Apocalypse a very difficult super-villain to beat.

Director Bryan Singer had previously shared the cast members for the latest movie in a tweet. Singer confirmed that "Game Of Thrones" star Sophie Turner would play a young Jean Grey, Tye Sheridan would portray the role of a young Cyclops and Alexandra Shipp would take Halle Berry's place as the younger version of Storm. Other cast members to appear in the movie include "American Horror Story" star Evan Peters as "Quicksilver", Oscar Isaac as Apocalypse, James McAvoy as Professor X, Michael Fassbender as Magneto, Jennifer Lawrence as Mystique, handsome Hugh Jackman as Wolverine and Ryan Reynolds could be Deadpool, according to The Latin Post.

"X-Men: Apocalypse" is scheduled to release on May 27, 2016.
