'World of Final Fantasy' new features: Special 'Xenogears' Mirage to be included
"World of Final Fantasy" will allow players to capture in-game creatures known as Mirages, and apparently, one of those Mirages is a big, fighting machine that may be familiar to older role-playing game (RPG) fans.
Twitter user "@kazu4281" shared an image showing off details about the upcoming game as they appeared in the new issue of "Jump" magazine.
Upon looking at the image, people may see something that could be quite familiar to them if they happened to play the 1998 RPG known as "Xenogears."
The newly revealed Mirage is a dead ringer for the same Xenogears machine that protagonist Fei Fong Wong piloted in the game that was first released 18 years ago.
Notably, the new Mirage is not known as Xenogears inside "World of Final Fantasy." Players can instead look forward to seeing it inside the game under the name XG.
The Xenogears-inspired Mirage will also have the ability to turn into a jet, Siliconera reported.
Fans may also notice that another new Mirage included in the image looks strikingly similar to a Guardian Force that appeared previously in "Final Fantasy 8." The Guardian Force in question is none other than the winged manipulator of gravity Diablos.
Players can typically see the different Mirages inside "World of Final Fantasy" by just going through dungeons and encountering them randomly, but given that these recently introduced Mirages appear to be quite special, it's unclear if they can be encountered in the same way.
Mirage collecting is expected to be a big part of the upcoming game.
In a previously released PlayStation Access video, it was revealed that there may be more than 200 different Mirages inside the game, so players may have to spend a considerable amount of time capturing all of them.
Players can see these many Mirages for themselves as soon as "World of Final Fantasy" is released on Oct. 25.
