World Cup 2014 Opening Ceremony: Jennifer Lopez to sing anthem in Brazil
Jennifer Lopez confirmed her World Cup performance and cleared out rumors regarding her cancellation to sing the World Cup Anthem in Brazil.
It looks like Jenny from the Block will grace the World Cup after all. In an interview with the Associated Press, Jennifer Lopez confirmed her attendance to the world's most famous ball game. There have been rumors that the American Idol judge has cancelled the performance due to her busy schedule.
"I'm coming. I leave tonight. We always were going," said Lopez, as reported by Fox News.
"I think people get anxious, especially with me and my schedule when I'm like, 'Ah, OK, I can leave this day, that day, I don't know if we can make it," added the award-winning singer and actress.
FIFA has announced that the singer won't be able to fly to Brazil to sing "We Are One (Ole Ola)" with Pitbull and Claudia Liette. But Lopez's confirmation says that she'll be able to perform the said song on Thursday before Brazil battles Croatia on Thursday.
"People get nervous and I think it was a little bit premature to announce anything. But we are definitely going," confirmed Lopez in the same interview.
Lopez then praised rapper Pitbull for conceptualizing the World Cup song, and says she can't take any credit for all the positive reaction for the song.
"I can't take credit for this. This was one of Pitbull's call-ins. He had this record and he's like, 'I think this record could be great for the World Cup," recalled Lopez.
"He's like, 'Will you do it with me?' And I go, 'Yeah, of course.'" said Lopez in the same AP interview.
