'Wonder Woman' news: Timeline to include World War I; Sean Bean and Eva Green offered villain roles

Wonder Woman aka Dianna Prince (Gal Gadot) will make her DC Cinematic Universe debut in the 2016 "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice." Her second appearance will be a stand alone "Wonder Woman" film set to be released by 2017.
With production set to begin this November, details about the upcoming "Wonder Woman" movie are slowly trickling in.
The plot of "Wonder Woman" will reportedly explore two distinct timelines. The first part of the movie is said to take place during World War I, while the latter part of the movie is said to take place in the present-day.
Filming is set to take place in London, England and Rome, Italy. Cinema Blend also revealed that the film would be shooting scenes in Italy's Basilicata. The exotic location would be ideal in depicting Theymyscira, Wonder Woman's home island.
According to Heroic Hollywood, Sean Bean and Eva Green are being considered for villain roles in the upcoming movie. Bean is reportedly being considered for Ares, the God of War, while Green is being considered for Circe, The Sorceress. The two villain roles, based on Greek mythological characters, are said to be Wonder Woman's greatest adversaries.
While Bean and Green's involvement in the film has yet to be confirmed, Chris Pine has already been cast as Steve Trevor, set to be the love interest of Wonder Woman. The role is not simply for romantic foil; Pine will also reportedly be busy with his own action scenes in the movie. In the original comic books, Trevor was a pilot during World War II; however, it has yet to be revealed on which timeline Trevor will be featured in the movie.
Patty Jenkins takes the helm as director, with Jason Fuchs providing the screenplay. "Wonder Woman" also recently enlisted Hoyte Van Hoytema (Interstellar) as cinematographer.
Wonder Woman makes her debut in "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" which hits theaters on March 25, 2016.
"Wonder Woman" is scheduled to be released to theaters on June 23, 2017.
