'Witches of East End' season 3 renewal hopes are dim as actresses Jenna Dewan Tatum, Mädchen Amick and Julia Ormond move on to other shows
"Witches of East End" fans were shocked when the show was cancelled. But even though they quickly banded together and started a petition to revive their favorite show, it's highly unlikely that it will be coming back for a third season, especially as several of its stars have moved on to other shows.
The American TV show started on a good note but was cancelled due to declining ratings. The announcement that it was not picked up for a third season caused a lot of outrage and fans were quick to condemn the decision on social media. An online petition to save the Lifetime drama was started and it quickly generated a lot of signatures, with about 202,000 signing the petition as of Aug. 8.
However, it seems that the number of people pushing for the show's return has been steadily dwindling as fans appear to have been starting to accept the inevitable. The fact that the show's stars have already signed on to do other shows is like the final nail to the coffin.
Jenna Dewan-Tatum, who played Freya, is confirmed to have joined the cast of "Supergirl" as Lois Lane's sister, Lucy. The character is described as "brash, funny, beautiful." She is said to have a connection with Jimmy Olsen and the "strong, smart and successful in her own right" Lucy is reportedly keen to fix a certain wrong that happened in the town.
Aside from Dewan-Tatum, Witches of East End matriarch, Julia Ormond, has allegedly been cast to play Joanna in "Incorporated," a pilot for a thriller. Mädchen Amick, who plays another Beauchamp, has joined "American Horror Story: Hotel" in a still undisclosed role.
While fans are undoubtedly sad at these latest developments, it's still good news as fans of these actresses can still get to watch them flex their acting muscles in new and exciting shows. Who knows, maybe one of the shows might take away the sting of losing the "Witches of East End."
