'Wentworth' season 5 release date, spoilers: Allie grieves for Bea
There will be no happy ending for Allie Novak (Kate Jenkinson) and Bea Smith (Danielle Cormack) in the upcoming season of Foxtel's prison drama series "Wentworth."
As per Game N Guide, Cormack's character, who was stabbed by Joan Ferguson (Pamela Rabe) with a screwdriver, is confirmed to be dead. Executive producer Jo Porter reportedly put rumors to rest that Bea is still alive and has survived the harrowing ordeal.
Last installment, Joan was successful in getting rid of her competition. Bea was left for dead and it looked like there was no hope for her. Fans have been vocal about their disappointment over the sudden turn of events. Bea died just when Allie was revealed to be still alive.
Previously, everyone thought Allie was dead. It turned out she had been drugged and was just sleeping. The moment she woke up though, Bea was fighting to stay alive.
Many hope that the prison's reigning queen will also make a triumphant return in the new season, just like Allie. After all, Bea is one of the main characters in the show. However, it now appears that her storyline is finished and that a reunion with Allie is not happening.
Jenkinson previously told AfterEllen that she was aware of the fans' reaction and she was as shocked as them with what happened to Bea.
"I completely understand it, because I lived it myself. I didn't see it coming when we were shooting season four last year. I certainly didn't see it coming, and I don't think anybody did. I think my reaction was very similar to that of the fans when I first found out. I was completely blindsided, and I thought, 'Okay, how does this work? How does a show continue without the central character?'" the actress shared.
"Wentworth" season 5 is expected to return on May 2017.
