'Wentworth' season 5 rumors: Bea Smith not dead, only in comatose

(Facebook/Danielle Cormack)Rumors claim that Bea Smith will still be part of "Wentworth" season 5, despite her death in the previous season.

Although Bea Smith (Danielle Cormack) was already killed by Joan Ferguson (Pamela Rabe) in the season 4 of "Wentworth," rumors claiming that the character will still be part of the series' upcoming season 5 are getting louder and louder. While there are rumors claiming that Cormack's character will return via flashback scenes, it is also suspected that the character may not have died at all and may only be in comatose in a hospital.

There is no denying that fans were enraged with the death of Bea Smith in "Wentworth" season 5 after Ferguson stabbed her with an ice pick. However, for the past couple of months, rumors saying that Cormack will return to the series have been getting more persistent.

One of the most popular theories on why Cormack will supposedly return to "Wentworth" season 5 is that Bea Smith did not actually die. Fans theorize that the character may still be alive after surviving the multiple stab wounds inflicted by Ferguson.

Another theory on the return of Bea Smith to "Wentworth" season 5 is that the series will feature the character via flashbacks. Reportedly, the series will show the life of Bea prior to her death, including her plan to escape jail, and how the ice pick got into the prison.

While it's true that fans will surely want to see Bea Smith alive rather than just to be featured in flashbacks, some opine that it is more likely for the latter theory to happen. In fact, Kate Jenkinson, who plays the role of Allie Novak on the series, Bea Smith's lover, has hinted in an interview that her character will avenge the death of Bea Smith.

"But what I think is that if you care about Bea Smith, then you're going to care about what happens after her death — how the prison changes, how it changes all the dynamics within the prison walls. People are going to want revenge. Specific people (points at self). If you want to see justice for Bea, then watch season five," Jenkinson said in an interview with After Ellen last August.

"Wentworth" is slated to return to Foxtel for its season 5 in early 2017.
