'Wentworth' season 5 spoilers, premiere news: New writer confirms death of Bea Smith

Series co-writer Pete McTighe answered an inquiry on social media about Bea Smith's (Danielle Cormack) fate moving forward to "Wentworth" season 5, and he said, Bea is 100% dead.
The finale episode of "Wentworth" season 4 shocked its viewers with the seeming death of Bea, who is known to be the lead character of the series. Most of the fans believe there is no way she could die, but when a user named becca asked on Twitter, "is bea actually 100% dead or is it a maybe?" the writer replied, "100%."
The same confirmation was done by the show's executive producer Jo Porter who said, "It is always an incredibly difficult decision to say farewell to a much-loved and revered character like Bea Smith. This storyline has had such a huge impact on us all and we are sure fans will feel the same. This decision was particularly hard as it meant also saying goodbye to Danielle Cormack."
The end of Bea came the day after she spent a good night with lover and fellow inmate Allie Novak, a character portrayed by actress Kate Jenkinson. What she thought to be the beginning of another good day took a full turn when Bea found an unconscious Allie on the ground with stab wounds.
Bea attacks an inmate whom she thought hurt Allie and was later on brought to the clinic for some wounds she sustained during the fight. She later on finds out that inmate Joan Ferguson (Pamela Rabe), who was a former governor, was the real perpetrator and spends the rest of the day plotting her revenge.
It was Allie being teased to die in the cliffhanger when the last part shows Bea holding a screwdriver she plans to hit Ferguson with. In the struggle, Ferguson gets hold of the weapon and the season ended with Bea's eyes closing as Allie opens hers.
"Wentworth" season 5 has no premiere date yet, but it is expected to return next year.
