"Wayward Pines" is set to return on the small screen in spring for its second season. In the recently released featurette, executive producer M. Night Shyamalan and author Blake Crouch revealed some tidbits as what avid viewers can expect from its storyline.

The 10-episode season 2, which premieres on May 25, will pick up after the events of the first season. The residents were seen battling against the First Generation, who have taken over the titular town. Ethan Burke (Matt Dillon) woke up from his coma and discovered that he is in the middle of this rebellion where the First Generation just imposed martial law.

When the show returns, avid viewers will be introduced to new characters. One is Dr. Theo Yedlin (Jason Patric) who will find himself in this mysterious town. His personal problems will get tangled with Wayward Pines' political woes. Before he found his way to the idyllic town, he was trying to patch up his rocky marriage with his architect wife Rebecca (Nimrat Kaur).

Meanwhile, the creative directors also revealed that fans of the series will get the chance to know more about the "abbies."

Fox President of Entertainment David Madden also revealed in a statement, "Season Two is going to take the suspense, the vision of the future, and the haunting character drama to whole new levels."

Joining the cast for the second season are Oscar-nominated Djimon Hounsou as the town's historian C.J. Mitchum, Tom Stevens as First Generation member Jason Higgins, Josh Helman as Xander, and Kacey Rohl as Jason's Lieutenant Kerry.

Charlie Tahan (Ben Burke), Shannyn Sossamon (Theresa Burke), Carla Gugino (Kate Hewson), and Hope Davis (Megan Fisher) will all be back for the upcoming season.

The series is based on the book with the same title written by Blake Crouch.

"Wayward Pines" season 2 premieres on May 25 at 9 p.m. EST on Fox.
