Washington Wizards free agency, trade rumors 2016: Alan Anderson leaves capital, heading to Los Angeles Clippers

The Washington Wizards are going to part ways with a player who almost did not see action for them last season as Alan Anderson is reportedly joining the Los Angeles Clippers this free agency.

Over a year ago, Anderson inked with the Wizards, which added veteran presence to the squad. Unfortunately, two weeks ahead of the 2015-16 National Basketball Association (NBA) season, he underwent surgery to address an ankle injury.

The medical procedure, together with a groin woe, led to Anderson missing the majority of the regular season. He made his debut for Washington last February and since then only saw action 12 more times, all coming off the bench. In those appearances, the 33-year-old averaged five points, 2.1 rebounds, with 1.1 assists in 14.8 minutes per contest.

Perhaps because of what happened during Anderson's first year with the Wizards, there were rumors that the team would not re-sign him. And now, this appears to be true as the former Michigan State Spartan agreed to a deal with the Clippers. According to a report by the Los Angeles Times, the pact is yet to be finalized but it is expected that he is going to earn the veteran's minimum ($1.5 million).

Anderson made a mark in the NBA during his days with the Toronto Raptors when he recorded the best numbers of his career. Sadly, following this, he failed to perform the same way in his runs with the Brooklyn Nets and the Wizards.

Now that Washington no longer has to deal with Anderson, it can focus on its goal of finding another wing player. ESPN reported that the Wizards are seeking for this and they may have found it in undrafted rookie Danuel House.

The Wizards are having a great off-season so far. Aside from re-signing key pieces, specifically guard Bradley Beal, they also added a number of players who will help them contend next season.
