'Vikings' season 5 news: A 'different' Rollo to emerge next season

(Facebook/Vikings)Rollo (Clive Standen) faced his brother in a previous scene during the finale of "Vikings" season 4.

Fans could expect to see a very different Rollo when "Vikings" returns for season 5.

In season 4, Rollo's (Clive Standen) betrayal against his older brother Ragnar Lothbrok (Travis Fimmel) took him far from Kattegat when he married Emperor Charles' (Lothaire Bluteau) daughter Gisla (Morgane Polanski).

Rollo tried to live a Frankish life to be able to keep his wife. But toward the end of the season, he appeared to be back in his old self when he joined his nephew Bjorn (Alexander Ludwig) during a raid in Spain. However, he also seemed to be conflicted if he wants to go back to his old ways or if he still wants to go back to his wife and kids and stop joining the other Vikings in their quests for more lands.

In an interview with TV Guide, Standen teased what fans should look forward to when the historical drama returns on screen next season.

"Nearly every season, [creator] Michael Hirst has allowed me to reinvent this man, and Season 5 is no different," Standen stated. "I think when he comes back, all bets are off ... You'll see a very different Rollo."

The report also hints that Rollo's quarrelsome relationship with his Viking friends and family will continue, which is why his reunion with them could be something to look forward to.

"It's going to be explosive," Standen also stated, "but not in the ways that you'd expect."

Aside from the emergence of a different Rollo, fans of "Vikings" should also look forward to the appearance of "The Flash" alum Adam Copeland who will be joining the cast next season. He will portray the role of Ketill Flatnose, who is described as "a fierce and brave warrior, chosen by Floki to be one of the leaders of the Viking party intent on traveling to Iceland to set up a community there."

The History Channel is expected to air "Vikings" season 5 later this year.
