"Vikings" season 3 finale was aired on April 23, and left fans with more questions than answers.

"Vikings" first was aired on March 3, 2015 and has amassed a strong following since then. While the show is not entirely historically accurate, having taken liberties in presenting the Viking culture, it has been praised and is critically acclaimed, garnering a 71 percent average on metacritic.

The finale episode of season 3 entitled "The Dead" brought conclusion to the season long siege of the Norsemen over neighboring New Worlds, culminating with the fall of France. Among the twists and surprises in the episode was King Ragnar faking his own death in order to gain access to the heart of the city. During the time King Ragnar is supposedly on his deathbed, one of his closest companions reveals secrets, with Floki admitting to murdering Athelstan.

The most exciting scene, however, was when Rollo, Ragner's brother, is the King of France not only offers him considerable ownership of land, but also his daughter's hand in marriage.

The ending sets up the storyline for the upcoming season, with fans questioning whether or not the palpable sibling rivalry would be the focal point of season 4.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Michael Hirst, the show's executive producer, claimed that the seething feud between Rollo and Ragnar would only intensify.

"If he's going to accept the offer, he's got to go the whole hog, so he's gone into that with the Franks and that's not going to just be a game of convenience. If he does this, this time - it's a second betrayal, but it's a much bigger betrayal," said Hirst.

Ibtimes also reported Hirst saying that this could be the final season which would see the brothers in conflict with each other. Whether this means an impending make-up or a last clash was not clarified.

History's "Vikings" was cleared for a fourth season on March 26 and is scheduled to be aired in early 2016.
