'Vikings' season 4 spoilers: Ragnar is alive, says creator

((Facebook/ Vikings))Ragnar is alive in the upcoming second half of "Vikings" season 4.

While "Vikings" season 4 is on a midseason break, fans can't help but speculate on Ragnar's fate after losing in the battle that was seen in the first half's finale. Here is a roundup of details in the upcoming midseason premiere.

Although there are rumors that Ragnar Lothbrok (Travis Fimmel) will die in the upcoming midseason, show creator Michael Hirst assured fans that Ragnar is still alive. Despite his defeat, Ragnar will come back, perhaps to avenge himself.

"What could [Ragnar] say? 'Oh, I went here, or there.' What would that mean? Nothing? 'I am here. I am still alive. I am in a state of being. You have to deal with it,'" Hirst told Entertainment Weekly. "That's what that wonderful end, when he's confronting everyone: 'You have to deal with me. I'm back. I'm Ragnar Lothbrok.'"

However, most predictions revealed that Ragnar's return will no longer make him as the fearsome man in the Viking hierarchy. He will also most likely end up unpopular among his followers. His honor and glory will be stripped away from him.

Although he will most likely start from the bottom, he will sure try his very best to claim what was once his — power. Hirst also revealed that Ragnar's revenge on King Ecbert of England can be expected next season.

Meanwhile, the two women in Ragnar's life, Lagertha and Aslaug, might end up in a conflict. Aslaug was last seen creating alliances and planning her next move when she takes over the throne. However, she will be using her son in the process. Lagertha, on the other hand, has some drastic moves up her sleeve that will surely shock the fans.

One of the major challenges for the characters next season is who will lead Kattegat. The possibilities are either Ragnar will continue to sit on the throne until its downfall, since his sons are still inexperienced to take over, or his wife Aslaug will fill the void.

History channel has not set a premiere date for "Vikings" season 4's second half, but it is expected to come out in July.
