'Vikings' season 4 news: Ragnar wrapped up in Yidu; Rollo gets a grip on his life

History has yet to officially announce the return of "Vikings" however, it seems that everybody is already talking about the show's upcoming fourth season. Based on snippets and details that have been revealed so far, it seems that fans of the show will be treated to a very exciting and compelling new season.
Ragnar Lothbrok will be getting a new love interest in season four. "I think it's going to be a unique relationship," star, Travis Fimmel said. Showrunner, Michael Hirst, also mentioned that Ragnar's new love interest will be very unexpected. In order to set the pairing up, Hirst had to consult historical experts to see if it was a possible and historically accurate connection.
Based on what has been revealed, it is very likely that Ragnar will become captivated by Yidu. Yidu, played by Dianne Doan, is a Chinese slave captured in the Red Sea. She will be brought back to Kattegat after the battle in Paris. Doan will reportedly play a big role in the upcoming season.
Despite having a new love interest, Ragnar will still be tied to first wife, Lagertha. "When they're apart or together, they're still always in each other's consciousness. They're always thinking about each other," Hirst revealed.
Another major storyline for season four will be focused on Rollo, Ragnar's brother. Back in season three, viewers saw an emotional side of Rollo, being deflated and always living in the shadow of his brother.
However, it seems that things will start to get better for Rollo. His conversation with the Seer will be transformative. The Seer had told him, "If you know what I knew, you'd be dancing naked on the beach."
In season four, Rollo will be trying to interpret the Seer's words. After a tempting offer from the French and being drawn to the princess, Rollo will have a hard time refusing the offer. For Rollo, he will feel like this will be his destiny and that this is his chance to rise above the shadows cast by his brother.
"He's come out in a totally extraordinary way. He is on the verge of a big, huge change in his life." Hirst said. For fans who want more information, Hirst suggests to read up on Count Rollo in France's history.
Katheryn Winnick also revealed that her character, Lagertha, will be coming into her own in season four. After the events of last season, Lagertha will become stronger and may not necessarily need a man to solve her problems anymore.
Bjorn, too, will be stepping up in season four. He will be learning from his father, Ragnar. There will be camaraderie between them as Bjorn learns to step up in matters that Ragnar can no longer handle.
Season four will also still feature more of England. Hirst mentioned that Linus Roache is an amazing addition to the show and there is still unfinished business between his character, King Ecbert, and Ragnar.
Season four of "Vikings" will premiere in 2016 on the History channel.
