During the height of Comic Con last June, fans of the historical drama "Vikings" were thrilled to have learned a lot of new information about the show's upcoming fourth season. Unfortunately, since the cast and crew returned back to Ireland to film, there weren't a lot of new updates.

Thankfully, Clive Standen, who plays Rollo, took time from filming to appear in Sydney's Oz Comic Con a few weeks ago. During an interview with The Au Review, Standen revealed a few bits and pieces of what to expect next season.

Standen has confirmed that the fourth season of "Vikings" will indeed last for 20 episodes. "We really are at the height of the Golden Age of the Vikings now. The story of the Vikings explodes and therefore, the show needs to as well," he said. By extending the season, the show was able to take its time telling a more comprehensive story. "We need 20 episodes to get the story told," he added.

When season four returns, Ragnar will have to deal with Loki and Rollo. Ragnar, as well, will be traveling back to Paris. Standen revealed that the beginning of the season will also be an uphill battle for his character, Rollo. Having remained in Paris, he has decided to marry the princess and to infiltrate the people of France. The struggle is also compounded by the imminent return of Ragnar.

According to Standen, they have already finished filming the first ten episodes of the season. They are currently in a mid-season break but will soon return to film the second half of the season. Standen shared that the scripts for the 11th and 12th episodes are "crazy."

The actor also revealed that the arrival of new characters, Harald Finehair and Halfdan the Black, will add additional drama to the show. He described them as "deadly and tricksy" and that their crazy antics surprise even the Vikings.

Season four of "Vikings" returns in 2016 on the History Channel.
