'UFC 2' news: CM Punk ends up as one of the lowest-rated fighters

(EA Sports)

Players looking forward to using CM Punk inside "UFC 2" may have to prepare for a difficult fight.

With the overall ratings for the game's fighters now revealed, fans now know that CM Punk is not going to be one of the most formidable options.

Instead, he may be one of the weakest, since his virtual doppelganger has been given one of the lowest overall ratings in the game at 82.

Baked into that overall rating of 82 is a stand-up game that is set at 80, a ground repertoire represented by an 82 mark and a less than desirable clinch score that resides at 78, according to the game's official website.

It's unclear if CM Punk's ratings were always meant to be so low, or if the game's developers simply changed it along the way.

An earlier version of "UFC 2" showed that CM Punk had been given a rating of 85, and that bit of information did not sit well with a lot of fans who did not find him deserving of such a score, Attack of the Fanboy reported.

Fans pointed to CM Punk's lack of experience as a reason not to give him the rating of 85, and for what it's worth, even back then, the developers had already indicated that the score was not final.

Still, there's a chance that the newly established 82 rating for CM Punk could still be adjusted in the months ahead.

While the former World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) Superstar's UFC debut has been delayed due to a back injury, he is still expected to take on welterweight Mickey Gall later on this year.

According to MMA Junkie, there's even a chance that CM Punk's first fight may take place either at UFC 199 or UFC 200.

Should CM Punk win his first fight, fans may no longer be opposed to seeing him receive a solid rating inside "UFC 2."
