The second season of "True Detective" started out on a low note. The premiere episode of season two was soundly bashed by viewers who were disappointed by the slow pace and heavy handed introduction of its characters.

But it seems that episode two will make up for what the first episode lacked.

The season started with "The Western Book of the Dead" where fans were introduced to Detectives Ray Velcoro (Colin Farrell) and Ani Bezzerides (Rachel McAdams) and Highway Patrolman Paul Woodrugh (Taylor Kitsch).  The show also revealed Velcoro's connection to local crime boss Frank Semyon (Vince Vaughn). A murdered city planner, Ben Caspere, brought the three together.

More details about Caspere's murder surfaces In "Night Finds You." Ray and Ani noticed some strange details in the city planner's autopsy that led them to think that his death had something to do with his proclivity for prostitutes.

A teaser clip for the video hints at Frank's impatience for the crime to be resolved as it affects his high speed rail project. There's also the case of his missing money. The erstwhile mob boss asks Ray to help him locate it.

The clip also shows Ani asking Ray "how compromised are you," a legitimate question that might be a foreshadowing of what will happen in the future as the conflict of interest would undoubtedly cause problems between Ray, Ani and Paul.

The first episode was almost universally planned for focusing so much on the four protagonists that when the dead body finally arrived, the hour was already up. Hopefully viewers will find the second helping of True Detective 2 more palatable.

According to moviecitynews.com, the second episode will just lay more cement on the groundwork of the story, which will be fleshed out further in episode three.
