'Transformers: The Last Knight' update: Stanley Tucci to reprise role as Joshua Joyce; set photos revealed
Filming for "Transformers: The Last Knight" is already underway. And in addition to Mark Wahlberg and the beloved Transformers, another familiar face will be gracing the silver screen when the film premieres in 2017. Stanley Tucci, who played Joshua Joyce in "Transformers: Age of Extinction," will be reprising his role for the upcoming sequel.
According to Variety, Tucci made the announcement during an appearance in Deauville, France. The actor was there to receive a career tribute that was presented by Frédéric Mitterrand, the country's former culture minister. Tucci did not elaborate how his character will play into the story of the upcoming installment. However, he did speak out on the recent terror attacks that hit the country.
"We're living through very difficult times in France, in America and in the world right now and cinema is something that can bring us all together and bring some positivity to life," said Tucci, whose filmography includes "The Devil Wears Prada" and "The Hunger Games."
In other news, director Michael Bay has begun shooting scenes in London. Coming Soon reports that some of the cast members, including newcomer Laura Haddock, were spotted on the city streets with Bumblebee, who is set to star in his own standalone film in 2018.
It was previously reported that scenes were also shot at the Isle of Skye. Based on the published photos, it appears as though the film will include sequences with medieval characters, which could allude to a section of the movie being set in that period of time.
The upcoming film, aptly titled "The Last Knight," will feature characters from the legend of King Arthur's Knights of the Round Table. Santiago Cabrera has been tapped to play Merlin, while Liam Garrigan is set to portray King Arthur himself.
"Transformers: The Last Knight" will hit theaters on June 23, 2017.
