'Transformers 5' news: Actor Mark Wahlberg and Director Michael Bay's participation in the film still unconfirmed

In the past couple of years, sequels have been ruling the movie screens. So there is no surprise that Paramount Studios couldn't wait to jump at the chance on creating another movie for their "Transformers" franchise.
With the studio putting more effort on finishing the script, details about the movie, its plot and casting, have been scarce. Even Wahlberg's participation in the upcoming movie has remained under wraps.
Wahlberg recently sat down with Air Herald. During the interview, the actor remained silent when it came to reprising his role in the franchise. Howeve,r he spilled details on the conception of "Age of Extinction."
"Some people think of [Age of Extinction] as a sequel. We thought of it more as a stand-alone thing. I've never done a sequel."

The news is still unclear when it comes to the casting of "Transformers 5," the same could be said for the director. According to the Vine Report, long time director for the franchise, Michael Bay, is planning to hand over the director's chair to someone else for the upcoming sequel. The award-winning director also tweeted that he still has no plans on being involved in "Transformers 5."
"Re: directing TF5. No, it's not official. I have not committed to any idea as of yet. Just met with Steven and we are discussing," he wrote.
Fans have already been speculating on the upcoming plot of the new sequel. In a report by Movieplot, others suggest that "Transformers 5" would be a prequel, which could happen in Cybertron. While IGN, on the other hand, reports that the plot could be Optimus Prime facing off with another giant Transformer, Unicorn.
"Transformers: Age of Extinction" was the fourth movie in the "Transformers" franchise that show a little bit of a reboot. The movie was headlined by Wahlberg.
There is still no confirmation yet on the plot of "Transformers 5," however, there are already plans to start production on June 2017.
