'Tokyo Ghoul' season 3 release date this year? Will Ken Kaneki's transformation lead to death?

Fans of the anime series "Tokyo Ghoul" are getting impatient for the release of season 3. While no official announcement has been made yet, reports of a 2016 release has been making the rounds. Meanwhile, the protagonist, Ken Kaneki, is expected to transform into a ghoul, which is speculated to result to a death.

The wait alone for the announcement of season 3 has been long. When Will website, however, reported that Pierrot Studio has renewed the series for another season. It also states the the season is scheduled to premiere this year.

Season 2 of the anime adaptation was received with mixed reviews. The season has deviated a lot from its manga source and the reactions from fans have also been reported to cause the delay. Some reports suggest that season 3 will actually be a remake that will combine the stories in seasons 1 and 2 to make it closer to the manga. Other rumors suggest that the studio is waiting for more episodes from the manga to incorporate into the season.

In season 2, Ken Kaneki surivived the battle with Yamori. His battle made him realize that he has so much more to learn about being a ghoul, and in order to hone his fighting skills, he entererd the Aorgiri Organization. Season 3 is supposed to follow his life in the organization or what happens after staying in it. Either way, he is expected to turn into a full ghoul. In the comics, he developed amnesia and he turned into a full ghoul and attacked his best friend, and what happens next has not yet been revealed.

"Tokyo Ghoul" follows the story of Ken, a college student who was unwillingly dragged into the world of ghouls when he survived an attack by one. Ghouls are half-human and half-monster who feed on full humans to survive.
