'Thor 3: Ragnarok' release date, movie plot spoilers: Thor and Loki to die? Premiere delayed to 2017
Marvel comic book fans and viewers of superhero movies will be disappointed to note that "Thor 3: Ragnarok" will hit theatres much later than was previously reported. Marvel Studios announced on its main website that the third Thor movie's release date is pushed from July 2017 to November 3, 2017. While the reason cited is Chris Hemsworth's busy schedule, it may actually have something to do with what happens to his character in "Avengers 2: Age of Ultron".
There are no plot details revealed as of now, but the comic books provide ample information on what to expect. The comic books reveal that Thor learns of Loki's treachery and runs out of patience. Viewers may remember that in the second movie, Loki fakes his death and takes over the throne of Asgard by appearing as Odin. Thor leaves Asgard and thinks his brother is dead.
Thor is so angry that he rips Loki's head. The God Of Thunder doesn't stop there as he discovers Asgard is doomed to fall and be reborn. He cuts the tapestry of time and space that leads to his own death and allows the citizens of Asgard and the universe to make their own decisions rather than be prisoners of fate. In Norse mythology, the Ragnarok story leads to the end-of-days. A series of cataclysmic events leads to the destruction of the world.
Chris Hemsworth also hinted at his character's death during an interview to Screenrant by saying, "I think that in the comic book the sort of end of days, Armageddon aspect is probably the direction in which it will all head in. Where it's sort of the end of all things and there's obviously no script or anything when I read the comic books I thought it was an interesting way to go."
Thor also faces Surtur, leader of the Fire Demons of Muspelheim and his greatest villain.
