Over the past weeks, "The Vampire Diaries" season eight has become a hot topic among internet users, especially after Nina Dobrev's Elena made an audio appearance that prompted fans to believe that she may return to the series soon.

Though there have been numerous theories about what possible story will bring the character back, a recent report suggests that one core character may have to sacrifice so Elena can be reborn.

According to The International Business Times, Bonnie (Kat Graham) may have to sacrifice herself so Elena can be resurrected. Though Graham has surprisingly announced her plans to leave the show earlier this year, viewers didn't think that her character may have to be killed off.

The outlet further explains that Elena's slumber is linked to Bonnie's life. This means that Elena will only be awakened from her deep sleep if Bonnie dies. On the other hand, the show's writers could also come up with a twist that would allow both Elena and Bonnie to stay alive without sacrificing the other.

In an interview with Nerdist back in April, showrunner Julie Plec aired her side regarding what production will do with Bonnie's character. "I feel like knowing that she [Graham] is ready to move on and say goodbye to Bonnie, now it's my challenge and the writers challenge to do right by that," Plec said.

It is then best to take any speculations with a grain of salt in terms of Bonnie's rumored death until season eight arrives.

Meanwhile, a new face will be seen in the upcoming episodes. TV Line revealed late last month that the series is on the lookout for an actress who will play the role of Sybil. It is unclear if the character will be a friend or an enemy but there have been a few details given about the new name.

Sybil is an immortal who may or may not be a villain in the long run but she is one who has the power and influence that could manipulate others. Sybil also uses her manipulative skills for her own will.

"The Vampire Diaries" season eight will start airing on October 21, 2016 on The CW.
