This week's episode 14 of "The Vampire Diaries" will feature Damon (Ian Somerhalder) and Stefan (Paul Wesley) guarding the casket of Elena (Nina Dobrev) as Cade (Wolé Parks) is planning to attack it.

As it was Kai (Chris Wood) who put a sleep curse on Elena and killed Jo (Jodi Lyn O'Keefe) in the season 6 of "The Vampire Diaries," it goes without saying that he cannot be trusted. Although the character already met his demise in the sixth season, he was able to escape hell a few episodes ago and is now back, offering Damon and Alaric (Matthew Davis) himself as their ally against Cade. 

While both Damon and Alaric turned down the alliance offered by Kai to defeat Cade, he finally got Damon to agree after telling him he would undo the sleeping curse he placed on Elena. While events have suggested that Kai is keeping his part of the bargain, he stabbed Damon at last week's episode 13 and brought Elena's casket with him.

At this point in time, it remains unknown how Elena's casket will be recovered. However, as the character is set to appear in the season 8 and series finale on March 10, it goes without saying that Elena's casket will be recovered, and she will eventually wake up.

However, according to reports, prior to Elena's "resurrection," she will be placed in a possible danger first as Cade is set to target her casket. Hence, Damon and Stefan will do everything to protect Elena in the episode 14 of "The Vampire Diaries" season 8.

Meanwhile, a short promo teaser for the season 8 and series finale of "The Vampire Diaries" has already arrived, and it shows a newly awakened Elena in a disoriented state. In the said brief teaser, she is heard asking Stefan, "What happened? Why am I here right now?"

As it is apparent that Elena will, indeed, wake up from her deep sleep, some fans now can't help but worry that Bonnie (Kat Graham) may really die. After all, the only way for her to wake up is when Bonnie is dead.

What dangers will Elena be put through before she wakes up? Will Bonnie really die if Elena wakes up?
