Before there was Hope, there was Elijah and Hayley in a very complicated relationship, and it seems that there's still a chance for the couple to reunite. Executive producer Michael Narducci recently teased that the former flames' relationship will be further explored in "The Originals" season 4.

To refresh the minds of fans, Elijah (Daniel Gillies) was always willing to make a sacrifice when it came to Hayley (Phoebe Tonkin). However, no matter how hard they tried, it appeared as if their romance would always be hampered due to complications in their already complicated family. Adding to that is the fact that Hayley will now have to focus on protecting Hope (Summer Fontana) since Klaus (Joseph Morgan) isn't around to help out.

Speaking with TVLine, Narducci teased that in "The Originals" season 4, "They have one of the most dynamic journeys that we're going to have dramatized this season." The EP adds: "Right away, you're going to see what Hayley is willing to do to get the final pieces of the puzzle to get Elijah and his siblings back."

In season 3, Klaus finally shed his selflessness and sacrificed himself so his siblings can live. However, the other Mikaelson siblings have been cursed as well, and out of desperation, Freya (Riley Voelkel) had to come up with a spell to bind the lives of the other Mikaelsons to Klaus. This means that if Klaus succumbs to the curse of Papa Tunde's blade in "The Originals" season 4, his siblings will die with him.

Hayley, to the rescue, is expected to go around to look for a cure that will hopefully get the rest of the Mikaelson vampires out of their suffering. It seems that things will work out well in terms of saving the Mikaelsons. However, there are other troubles ahead and the good thing is, Hayley won't be alone. According to Narducci, Elijah will be Hayley's pillar of support. "When their family is put in jeopardy, these two people are going to do whatever they have to do to protect each other," he said.
