'The Originals' season 4 spoilers: Killing Marcel still not easy despite Klaus' imminent freedom, says executive producer
After almost a year of waiting, "The Originals" finally returned to television via its season 4 episode 1 last week. As Hayley (Phoebe Tonkin) succeeded in finding a cure for the Mikaelsons, it is suspected that it is just a matter of time before Klaus (Joseph Morgan) can be freed from Marcel (Charles Michael Davis) and exact vengeance on him.
"The Originals" season 4 episode 1 featured a five-year time jump since the Mikaelsons were put through an ordeal. Thanks to Phoebe, who succeeded in uniting the blood of the seven werewolf packs, Freya (Riley Voelkel) was finally awakened and healed Elijah (Daniel Gillies), Rebekah (Claire Holt), and Kol (Nathaniel Buzolic).
While the Mikaelsons are now back, the same thing cannot be said about Klaus, who is still under the close watch and restrictions of Marcel. However, as the Mikaelsons are heading toward New Orleans in the upcoming episode 2 of "The Originals" season 4, as seen in the promo, Klaus' freedom from Marcel may happen soon.
However, it goes without saying that freeing Klaus will not come without hindrances. According to reports, the Mikaelsons will be up against many vampires, including Marcel, whose single bite can be fatal to them.
While it remains uncertain whether Klaus will finally be rescued in the upcoming episode, it is said that Elijah will be the one to save him. As Klaus' freedom is just a matter of time, there are now speculations on him possibly killing Marcel once he escapes. However, according to "The Originals" executive producer Michael Narducci, taking down Marcel may not be as easy as what some fans think.
"Well, that's assuming that revenge will be Klaus' first priority once he becomes free, which it might not be. His first thought could be, 'Let me go find my kid.' That's also assuming that Marcel will be easy to kill. When he drank that serum at the end of last season, he became something we still don't quite understand. He may not be so easy to take down," Narducci told TV Line.
"The Originals" airs Fridays at 8 p.m. EDT on The CW.
