There is a lot of hype surrounding the release of the follow-up to "The Last of Us." Although the game has gained a lot of fans ever since the launch of the first installment, it seems that it  will still take a while before fans get to see its sequel, "The Last of Us 2."

According to reports, "The Last of Us 2" is one of the most anticipated games right now and its level of hype is similar to that of "Red Dead Redemption 2's," the game by Rockstar. As of now, there is still no clue if the game is already being developed by Naughty Dog, but the possibility of releasing a sequel for the franchise is high.

There are speculations that the developers may be focusing on another title instead. "Uncharted 4" is one of the big titles that was released by Naughty Dog recently, and it seems like they are focusing on making the downloadable content (DLC) for it. It had been reported previously that the time that was spent to create "The Last of Us" was three-and-a-half years. With that in mind, it's probably safe to assume that there will still be no announcements of its sequel upto next year.

Meanwhile, there have also been rumors that the next "The Last of Us" game will be focused on a different set of characters. The creative director of Naughty Dog, Neil Druckmann, has not been mentioning anything with regards to continuing Joel and Ellie's story. Because of the silence, a number of fans are speculating that a new storyline or plot will be written and would involve a lot of surprises.

On the contrary, some fans have also speculated that the story of the two main protagonists will still continue. This time however, there may be more struggles between them since Ellie might learn that Joel got rid of the Fireflies in order to save her.

In the meantime, the new details regarding "The Last of Us 2" will only be confirmed once Naughty Dog has given an official announcement .
