'The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, Part 2': new poster shows Katniss rising as the Mockingjay over a toppled President Snow
It has been five years since the release of Suzanne Collins' third "Hunger Games" novel, "Mockingjay."
To celebrate the novel's fifth anniversary, the "Hunger Games" official Facebook page recently unveiled a new banner, which features Katniss standing over a toppled President Snow.
The released image bears the caption, "When Snow falls, the Mockingjay will rise."
"The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, Part 2" is the fourth and final film in the "Hunger Games" saga slated to be released this fall.
When the movie resumes, "Katniss is still messed up from the attack, and Peeta is definitely still messed up. But because of all this, Katniss is now fired up in a new way," film director, Francis Lawrence ,said.
Unlike the previous films that saw Katniss shaken and hiding from the sidelines, she will finally rise up and take charge. "I believe she kind of grows in her position and takes control of her own destiny," star, Jennifer Lawrence, said.
Katniss will not be satisfied with merely being a symbol. Katniss is someone who will do whatever it takes to accomplish what needs to be done. "I think she might be willing to give up being the Mockingjay, but not give up being revolutionary," producer, Nina Jacobson said.
In the movie, Katniss and her team will take on a very challenging task; they will stage an assassination attempt on President Snow.
According to the film director, Lawrence, "The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, Part 2" will be a war movie that is rife with violence and destruction. However, Lawrence also considered the film's very young demographic.
"What I tried to do was focus on the emotional consequences of violence, and not the blood, guts, carnage and shock value of it. A lot of violence is implied," the director said.
The final "Hunger Games" movie will mostly take place inside the Capitol. The Capitol has been mentioned many times throughout the films but viewers have only gotten brief glimpses of it.
"This is the most amount of time we've spent in the Capitol. So we had to focus a lot on how to accomplish that, especially when we spend most of our time out on the street," director Francis Lawrence said.
It's a very different kind of landscape. It's a mix-up of a layout of Paris and old designs of Germania," he added.
"The architecture was evocative of dictatorial regimes. It felt strong and monolithic, but also had a decorative element to it," production designer, Philip Messina, remarked.
However, the Capitol that viewers will see will be different from the wealthy and ostentatious city that it used to be.
The Capitol will become war-torn and thus, Messina tried to incorporate Soviet-era inspired features into the set. Viewers will witness the Capitol undergo massive destruction as it becomes overrun by rebels and revolutionaries. There will be holes in the walls, broken down roads and burnt facades.
From what has been revealed about the upcoming movie, it seems that the final "Hunger Games" movie will be unlike its predecessors. Viewers will finally see the epic confrontation between Katniss and President Snow.
"The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, Part 2"will be released to theaters on Nov. 20, 2015.
