When "The Good Wife" returns for a seventh season, Alicia will be working with a clean slate, as she apparently says goodbye to some old faces and welcome new ones.

According to CBS' description of season seven, Alicia Florrick (Julianna Margulies) will be attempting to revive her flagging career by starting her own law firm, with the help of Jason Crouse (Jeffrey Dean Morgan). The quiet and capable investigator is taking over from Kalinda Sharma (Archie Panjabi), who left after a fake Brady violation.

Kalinda's abrupt departure was a big blow both for Alicia and the fans who have grown to love the feisty and volatile PI. The duo's final scene in last season's finale generated some controversy because it was allegedly shot separately.

The scene showed Alicia meeting her estranged friend and confidant, Kalinda, at a bar. They had two shots of tequila before Kalinda revealed that she was leaving. The two then had a sweet and succinct exchange, marking the first time in two years that Kalinda and Alicia shared the same screen. But as it turns out, the two actresses weren't even in the same room when the scene was shot.

CBS head honcho Nina Tassler would not comment whether the scene was computer generated or not, she instead said that Kalinda and Alicia's final scene together was "a very satisfying ending for the relationship between those two characters."

While Kalinda will be missed, Crouse might be more than enough to fill the void she left behind. Aside from Crouse, fans will also be introduced to Willa Eastman, a recurring character portrayed by Margo Martindale, who is hired by Peter to help with his Presidential campaign.

Eastman is a strategist who's said to be hiding her innate cunningness under a veneer of folksy charm. Peter Gallagher is also onboard as Irving Carter, a lawyer working for Reese Dipple (Oliver Platt).

"The Good Wife" season seven is set to kick off on Oct. 4, 2015 on CBS.
