The latest episode of The Fosters revealed how the family struggled with control versus generosity during the holiday season, while some of the kids are feeling a little down.

In the latest episode of The Fosters season 2 called "Christmas Past," Stef (Teri Polo) is feeling that Sharon is being too generous during the holidays, so much so that it is affecting their budget.

The episode opened with the family decorating their Christmas tree when a woman comes on the door knocking and says that she is from the Mission Bank.

The woman then reveals that they are delivering gifts to the foster children in town. Stef made a speech about how the children are now part of the family and that they are not foster kids anymore.

Callie accepts the gift anyway despite feeling awkward.

This Christmas is also the first time that Callie and Jude spend the holidays with the Fosters, and Callie feels that she is being left out because she is an unofficial child of the family. Stef and Lena made the children donate the gifts back to the charity so that Callie won't feel bad opening a "pity gift."

Meanwhile, Stef is feeling that grandmother Sharon is giving far too expensive gifts to the children, and it could teach the children bad lessons when it comes to saving money.

Stef and Lena then went to clean up and file old papers, including the bank statements of Stef's late father. The two then discovered that Stef's father had a pension of $150,000. Stef did not receive the inheritance and the two are bewildered as to who might have received the money instead.
