'The Flash' Season 2 Spoilers: Romance Between Iris and Scott Evans Teased by Candice Patton

(CW)A promotional photo of The Flash from CW posted April 28, 2015. The Flash series, now in its second season upcoming episode 16, will introduce a new romance. The Flash will be cause for conflict between two characters Iris and Scott Evans as they respectively defend and defame the scarlet speedster. The chemistry that will be sparked will fuel the romance between these two characters on The Flash.

Candice Patton, who plays Iris in the series "The Flash," tells TV Line of a romance that will spring up between her character and Scott Evans, who is played by Tone Bell. In the series, Iris works for Evans, who is the new editor for Central City Picture News. Evans was introduced into the show in episode 14 of this season. This romantic twist may prove an interesting push for Iris to finally move on with her life after losing her fiancé Eddie Thawne (Rick Cosnett).

Patton reveals, "There's a bit of a romance that starts to happen between them. It's more on his part than hers, but it's the first time that Iris starts to deal with moving on from Eddie's death and being open to the idea that maybe her heart can finally move forward. The Scott Evans character is really the catalyst for that."

This could really stir things up in the show because it so happens these two characters have completely opposite views on The Flash (Grant Gustin). A preview trailer of the upcoming episode 16 of the series shows Evans' true feelings about the speedster when he tells his writers to expose him as a fraud, believing The Flash has gone rogue. As one of the writers on the team, Iris then will have quite a job of it, having always believed in the Flash.

As the show's executive producer, Andrew Kreisberg, said on TV Line, "It's interesting, because [Scott] can't stand The Flash. He thinks The Flash is a phony, and he has a great storyline about why he doesn't believe in heroes anymore. So, whereas Iris has become a little bit like Lois Lane [as] The Flash's biggest booster, her new editor is dedicated to taking some of the shine off" the city's superhero."

Of course, The Flash hasn't really gone rogue, as the series of troubles in the city is really caused by another speedster, a female one this time, by the name of Trajectory (Allison Paige).

And so some conflict is bound to come up between these two fated to have a romantic entanglement. The chemistry between Iris and Evans will have sparks flying on the show as they respectively defend and defame the scarlet-clad hero, making for some explosive watching on March 22 as "The Flash" returns to The CW from a month-long hiatus with season 2 episode 16 "Trajectory."
