The box office horror hit sequel 'The Conjuring 2,' starring Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga, has been pushed back to a 2016 released date instead of its supposed October 2015 premiere, according to reports.

Nabbing a whopping $318 million in ticket sales, The Conjuring was an instant hit because of its intensely scary direction and storytelling that was created out of a $20 million budget.

A spin-off, Annabelle, about one of the dolls that allegedly carried a demonic force was released recently.

The main reasons of the delay were the legal issues raised by Tony DeRosa-Grund, producer of Evergreen Media Group. Grund claims that Warner Bros. "acted in bad faith," and refuses to fully disclose the proper profit share to Evergreen Media Group.

According to a report by Screenrant, Evergreen claimed the rights to adapt the Warren's case files in both movie and television versions. It is also reported that Warner Bros. agreed to hire Grund as a producer in all adaptations but failed to do so.

Warner Bros. denied allegations and pinned another allegation on Grund instead. According to the big production house, Grund tried to sell The Conjuring as a TV series that will be produced by Lionsgate, despite them gaining all rights to the movie and the case files.

Grund then claimed that Warner Bros. only has rights for cinematic releases, and that the studio interfered with his dealings with Lionsgate.
