'The Blacklist' season 4 spoilers: Tom and Liz to break up?

(Facebook/ NBCBlacklist)Liz and Tom are facing tough times ahead in "The Blacklist" season 4.

Tom (Ryan Eggold) and Liz's (Megan Boone) relationship will continue to be bumpy coming into the new season of "The Blacklist."

In the show's last installment, Tom ran away with the baby to meet Liz in Cuba. Unfortunately, their reunion was cut short when Alexander Kirk (Ulrich Thomsen) kidnapped Liz. Later on, he told her that he was actually Constantine Rostova, the father she thought was dead.

Executive producers Jon Bokenkamp and John Eisendrath talked to Entertainment Weekly, stating that the path to happiness would not be easy for the couple, especially now that Liz is in the hands of a dangerous man. Kirk is still Red's (James Spader) biggest nemesis and it will be a toss-up on who between them is Liz bound to trust.

According to the EPs, they have no plans to spin a story about the couple living a domesticated life, playing house and changing the baby's diapers. Liz and Tom's relationship has always been complicated. Their dream of having a simple life will probably stay a dream, considering everything that has been happening around them. Recently, fans are worried that the spin-off series starring Tom and his mother will mean a separation with Liz. Eisendrath said that what viewers should remember is that what Liz and Tom feel for each other is nothing less than true love.

"With any outcome, the spin-off or no spin-off, Jon and I have thought from the beginning with Liz and Tom that there was true love there. There was a real relationship at the core of a couple who had every reason to ultimately fall apart, because it was based on so many untruths. ... Hopefully the audience can appreciate that they are a young couple who care a great deal about each other who have an have incredible amount pulling at them," he shared, according to Entertainment Weekly.

Meanwhile, Melty posits that there is going to be a showdown between Liz and Red once they meet each other in season 4. After getting brainwashed by Kirk that Red is the person she cannot afford to trust, she will probably want him to explain everything to her. What is Red's true identity and why is he very protective of her? Are the speculations true that he is Liz's real father?

"The Blacklist" season 4 will return in the fall on NBC.
