'The Blacklist' season 4 premiere spoilers: Kirk convinces Liz he should be trusted?

(Facebook/ NBCBlacklist)Liz decides on Kirk's fate in "The Blacklist" season 4.

Liz (Megan Boone) will have to decide if Alexander Kirk (Ulrich Thomsen) is really telling the truth in the upcoming season of "The Blacklist."

Last installment, Red's (James Spader) nemesis surfaced and told Liz he was actually Constantine Rostova, the father who she thought she had killed many years ago. Liz's past continues to haunt her ever since she shot her dad to defend her mother who was being severely beaten by him. Kirk conspired with Mr. Kaplan (Susan Blommaert) so that he and Liz could talk in person. Liz agreed to fake her own death to get some much-needed answers about her family.

In May, executive producer Jon Bokenkamp told Entertainment Weekly that Liz has no reason to doubt Kirk's claim.

"I don't know why we wouldn't believe him. Red's said before that he's not Liz's father. This man shows up in her life and says he's her father. Liz should take him at his word. She thought she shot her father. It raises a number of questions, which is going to be the joy of season 4," the EP said.

According to Kirk, he has been watching over Liz since she was being hounded by the FBI because of a crime she did not commit. He learned then that she was Marsha. Kirk claims he wants to protect her and her new family from Red, who is allegedly the real enemy. Liz had no trouble believing Kirk, since she knew that Red was keeping secrets from her.

The new promo for season 4 shows though that she is still not sure if Kirk is telling the truth. In the clip, she is shown fervently looking for her father. There is also a subtle hint that Red may be the man she is searching for. Could it be him?

"The Blacklist" returns Thursday, Sept. 22 at 10 p.m. EST on NBC.
