"The Blacklist" returns with an all-new episode titled "Cape May" this Thursday night. The upcoming episode will focus on Raymond "Red" Reddington as he tries to deal with the immediate aftermath of Liz Keene's shocking death.

"In 319, the story focuses on Red and him dealing with his past, his history, and his grief," Amir Arison told Entertainment Weekly.

Three seasons in, viewers have yet to discover Red's true connection to Liz. Despite this missing piece in the puzzle, viewers also cannot deny just how much Red had truly cared for Liz. Given his past experiences, Red will be conflicted as he copes with Liz's death.

"He's faced with a very complicated set of circumstances. Here's a character who, to live his life for the past 20 years, he has found comfort in fate and I think it empowers him and gives him confidence when entering any set of circumstances, no matter how dire; that there will be an end and he is prepared for that with a certain amount of comfort or at least comfortable with the fact that it could happen anytime. He's certainly not as unprepared for [death]," star James Spader told Entertainment Weekly in a separate interview.

As Red tries to contemplate a future without Liz, he seeks solace in his beach house in Cape May. While there, he will come across a mysterious beauty who is on the run from unknown assailants. As she crosses paths with Red, will he provide the much-needed help that will allow her to fight back against her attackers?

The promo for the upcoming episode also previews a confrontation with Tom Keen. Tom warns Red that he won't let him make the same mistakes with baby Agnes as he did with Liz. Regardless, Red is determined to be a part of Agnes' life.
