'Teen Wolf' Season 5 spoilers: most of the cast appearing in rest of the season; Tyler Hoechelin to have smaller role

(MTV)Teen Wolf season 5 premieres on June 29 this year.

MTV unveiled a new trailer for the upcoming season 5 of "Teen Wolf" on its website yesterday. Fans were treated to a sneak peak on what will be decidedly the most exciting season for the show yet.

"Teen Wolf" which first aired on June 5, 2011, is loosely based on the 1985 movie with the same name. The show centers around Scott McCAll, played by Tyler Posey, who is bitten by a werewolf and now has to balance his supernatural changes and life at high school.

The two minute trailer, which has left fans buzzing, features not only the main cast, but also fresh new additions to the show. While there is no confirmation yet on whether anyone famous would be joining the show, the storyline will follow McCall's circle of friends as they go through their last year at high school. The sneak peak is full of exciting action, tender dramatic moments and what seems like a whole lot of bloodshed.

The cast, which consists of Tyler Posey as Scott McCall, Dylan O'Brien as Stiles Stilinski, Tyler Hoechlin as Derek Hale, Holland Roden as Lydia Martin, Shelley Hennig as Malia Tate, Arden Cho as Kira Yukimura, and Dylan Sprayberry as Liam Dunbar are all slated to come back for the rest of the season. However, there are reports that one of the regulars will have a diminished role in the upcoming series.

In an interview with Jeff Davis, the show runner of "Teen Wolf", it was confirmed that Tyler Hoechelin's character, Derek Hale would be taking a back seat in the show's current story line.

"He said he felt like he was at a point in his career where he wanted to try new things, things that scare him, but wasn't quite ready to let go of the family he created on Teen Wolf. We love him and miss him." said Davis.

Tyler Hoechlin will no longer be a regular and will only be credited as a recurring character on Season 5.

"Teen Wolf" season 5 premieres on MTV on June 29, 10PM.
