Things are definitely getting more interesting and at the same time exciting, as the second season of The CW's "Supergirl" continues this week with a brand new episode slated to find a collaboration of two unlikely persons due to a virus intentionally unleashed threatening the lives of its adoptive inhabitants.

According to this spoiler report, CADMUS will be releasing the virus Medusa into the open. The plan behind it was to eradicate all the alien matter on the planet, including Kara Zor-El (Melissa Benoist) herself.

The synopsis for episode 8 entitled "Medusa" was shared over at Carter Matt and it hinted that given the severity of the situation, Supergirl might be forced to form an alliance with "an unexpected ally" in the person of Lena Luthor (Katie McGrath).

Series executive Brenda Strong previously revealed to Entertainment Weekly the nature of the problem.

"Medusa plays very strongly in the next episode, which is episode 208, and it's basically a virus. It's one of those exclusive viruses that doesn't touch anyone whose organic material is human. It only attacks anything that is alien, and it's a big one. So, that poses imminent threat to the planet," Strong said.

As if this is not enough to keep Kryptonian busy this Thanksgiving Day, a sneak peek of the episode was posted over at Fansided and it teased Kara and the rest of her folks coming together to celebrate the festivity. However, the occasion was briefly interrupted when a time breach opened right above the dining table. For DC TV fans, it is a clear hint that someone from the other Earth has crossed over to Kara's own universe.

The episode summary did say that this episode will kick off the 4-night crossover event with the other The CW superhero shows like "The Flash," "Arrow" and "Legends of Tomorrow." As of this particular hour, viewers could expect Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) and Cisco Ramon (Carlos Valdes) to come over to National City to seek the help of Kara.
