'Supergirl' seen in new promo trailer; official character images released

There's still about a month to go until "Supergirl" makes its debut on CBS but it seems that the show already has a steadily growing fan base, as revealed by Twitter.
Twitter data specialists analyzed the all the tweets from the upcoming fall television shows. Based on the data, of all new shows premiering this season, "Supergirl" was the fifth most buzzed about show on Twitter with at least 49,000 tweets.
In order to produce more hype and buzz, CBS has revealed never-before-seen footage of "Supergirl." Unlike other promotional videos, this new footage highlights scenes from beyond the first episode.
The newly released footage introduces the viewers to the Department of Extra-Normal Operations, which monitors the presence of extra-terrestrials on Earth. The narrator chronicles that Fort Rozz, the Kryptonian Prison, has crashed and that alien prisoners have escaped.
Then, Melissa Benoist is introduced as Supergirl, "Earth doesn't have just one hero anymore, now it has Supergirl!" The footage then shows Supergirl's powers including the ability to fly, superhuman speed, superhuman strength, heat vision and super breath. Much of the footage also interspersed scenes of Supergirl fighting off a bevy of supervillains. It has been revealed that Supergirl will go toe-to-toe with the likes of Hellgrammite, Reaction, Livewire and Red Tornado.
CBS also released the first image of the wicked and powerful Red Tornado, played by actor Iddo Goldberg, who will be battling Supergirl in the upcoming season.
"Supergirl" executive producer, Greg Berlanti, is also the producer for the DC shows airing on the CW, "Arrow" and "The Flash." He entertained the prospect of having a crossover episode between all three DC shows. However, given that "Supergirl" is aired on a different network, a crossover episode may be difficult to execute in the near future. It seems that CBS is first focused about establishing Supergirl as her own character, before the heroine crosses over to other shows.
"Supergirl" premieres on Oct. 26, Monday, at 8:30 p.m. on CBS.
