'Suits' season 7 updates: Jessica may still be featured via crossover episodes with Gina Torres' spin-off series
Although Jessica Pearson (Gina Torres) already made her exit from Pearson Specter Litt, avid fans of the character may still see her in the future episodes of "Suits" despite being in her own spin-off series.
Many fans of "Suits" were saddened when, during the summer finale of "Suits" season 6, it was revealed that Torres' Jessica character was leaving the show as she quit being a part of the law firm. However, in an interview, Torres revealed that the taxing travel to the "Suits" location in Toronto and her Los Angeles home finally became a major consideration for her to arrive at the decision to leave the show.
"I think the public doesn't understand the rigors of shooting a show for an actor, much less when you're on location and away from home. At one point I approached Aaron (Korsh, the showrunner) and said: 'It's not that I don't love the show and love Jessica, who is my alter ego. But my life is my life, and I need to take care of it,'" Torres told the New York Times in September last year.
However, apart from her surprise appearance during the "Suits" season 6 winter finale last month, the latest reports claim that there is still a possibility for Torres' Jessica character to appear once in a while in the future episodes of "Suits." After all, the actress will star in her own "Suits" spin-off series that is rumored to be based in Chicago. Hence, as Torres breathes life to Jessica anew, the events in her new show can still be tied to those of "Suits" and vice versa via crossover episodes.
Meanwhile, apart from the possible guest appearance of Torres in "Suits," it has been learned that the upcoming season 7 of the legal procedural drama will also usher in, at least, two new faces, who will act as the new associates for Specter and Litt and provide the law firm some growth, as revealed by Korsh himself in an interview.
"Suits" is slated to return to USA Network for its season 7 this summer.
