'Star Wars: The Force Awakens' news: J.J. Abrams confirms no more trailers before movie's launch

So fans got a tad too excited when the latest "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" trailer launched a week ago -- too excited, in fact, that they came up with their own theories as to why Luke Skywalker was noticeably absent from it. But if their excitement means they're looking forward to another trailer to come put between now and the movie's launch this December, then they will be massively disappointed.
Extra stopped director J.J. Abrams on a red carpet event and asked him about the much-awaited film, "Star Wars: The Force Awakens." Asked about what's next for those calling for "more information, another video, another clip," the director had an answer that will surely be a letdown for some.
"We're getting very close, the next thing's really gonna be the movie.... Well, there'll be commercials, but yeah no more trailers," Abrams tells Extra.
But this is not altogether the bad news that everyone might have thought it will be. The 49-year old American filmmaker did say in the same interview (which you can watch here) that he and his team are working hard to make "The Force Awakens" very 'special.' If that entails no more trailers before the movie premiere, so be it, as long as the final product lives up to the hype of last week's trailer.
Of course, Extra would not end the interview without asking Abrams about Luke Skywalker. Asked about the "evil Luke Skywalker," he only said it was interesting to see people's theories.
"But what will be cool is when people finally see the movie and see what it really is. Hopefully some people will say, 'I was right.' Other people will be like, 'Aargh!' You want people to be debating things even before the movie comes out, it's a dream," he added.
