'Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens' news: San Diego Comic-Con-goers treated to behind-the-scenes reel
"Star Wars VII: The Force Awakens" is only a few months away but the mysteries revolving its plot line are still emerging. More of these mysteries arise as a new "Star Wars" reel has been premiered in this year's San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC).
As Entertainment Weekly puts it, J.J. Abrams seem to be throwing out pieces to the puzzles and fans will have to form the picture themselves — unless they are patient enough to wait for the December launch.
The reel, showcasing behind-the-scene footages, is three and half minutes long. It starts off with shots of different sets and props then a commentary from Mark Hamill, who will reprise his role as Luke Skywalker in the seventh movie, "Real sets. Practical effects. You've been here but you don't know this story. Nothing's changed, really. I mean, everything's changed but nothing's changed. That's how you want it to be really."
He goes on to narrate that though new technology will change how the movie is going to look like, "Star Wars VII: The Force Awakens" will still "[keep] one foot in the pre-digital world."
Entertainment Weekly put together some pieces of the puzzles and came up with a few theories that can be deduced from previous teasers and the new reel. One of those is the speculation that Princess Leia (Carrie Fisher) is in possession of Darth Vader's lightsaber.
While this looks to be one of the sure things based off of the three "Star Wars" clips released so far, more questions seem to continue to arise. Beloved protocol droid, C-3PO, was seen in the reel with a red arm, which had fans asking if he has gone over to the bad side. And while John Boyega's Finn is a confirmed Stormtroooper, he was later wearing Poe Dameron's (Oscar Isaac) clothes, which resulted to fans questioning how this happened in the epic sc-fi franchise. Furthermore, the mystery of how he ended up in Jakku remains unsolved.
The "Star Wars" saga continues with "Star Wars VII: The Force Awakens," in cinemas this December 18, 2015.
