Snapchat Spectacles release, specs: Fixed store in New York opens

(Spectacles Official)Snapchat Spectacles can now be purchased in its first fixed store in New York.

The famous image smartphone application that stormed the world, Snapchat, is expanding its technology. It has recently dropped its latest tech venture, the Snapchat Spectacles.

According to Wareable, it has been more than two weeks since Snapchat debuted its Spectacles through its Grand American Tour. However, the demand for the specs skyrocketed that grabbing one would be a miracle. The headwear can only be purchased at few US locations.

Just recently, Snapchat finally decided to open a fixed store in New York, just right next to Apple Store on the 59th Street. However, there is a catch — it will only open its doors until New Year's Eve. The queue is also incredibly long that purchasing it would require patience and effort.

Snapchat Spectacles can slightly be compared to the Google Glass, but only stylish and fashionable. Also, the wearable is more focused on image capturing than being a mini computer. In order for it to function, it should be connected to the smartphone as well as to Snapchat and record the snippets of video in circular format.

CNET has also explained that the Spectacles can do 10-second bursts of video at a time. The two circles at each side of the glasses cover the video camera on the right and LED light on the left. When you hit record, a front light will spin and a smaller light will face inward, which means recording has started. Once you have recorded your snaps, they seamlessly transfer to your smartphone through your Snapchat app.

One of the cons, however, is in exporting. First, it can export inside the Snapchat app and would come out in 1060 x 180 pixels. Second, since it transfers fast, the video quality is low. However, you can opt to transfer HD quality by connecting through the specatcles' own WiFi network.

The Snapchat Spectacles also comes in an affordable price tag of $130.
