After months of patiently waiting, fans will finally know about Abbie Mills' fate and how this newest separation has affected the Witnesses. A Mills family reunion is apparently on the agenda as well when "Sleepy Hollow" resumes its third season.

Abbie (Nicole Beharie) and Ichabod Crane (Tom Mison) was able to thwart whatever Pandora (Shannyn Sossamon) and the Hidden One had in store for the world in the show's midseason finale. However, it came at a great cost as Abbie seemingly sacrificed herself by walking inside Pandora's tree with the Shard of Anubis.

There have been numerous hints as to what's in store for the denizens of "Sleepy Hollow" when the supernatural drama returns to TV screens next month. There have been stories about creatures like the Jersey Devil making an appearance and Benjamin Franklin returning, but no word on whether or not Abbie and Ichabod will be reunited.

In an interview with TV Line, showrunner Clifton Campbell revealed that when the show returns, it will be several months after the events of the fall finale and Ichabod and Jenny (Lyndie Greenwood) are wondering if Abbie is gone for good. According to Campbell, the time jump was a way for the finale to resonate with both viewers and the characters, as it gives the impression that they are also waiting in real time and everyone is "on pins and needles together."

As expected, the EP won't reveal anything about Abbie's fate but hinted that the Witnesses being separated again changes things dramatically.

"A lot of questions and a lot of need and desire comes to the surface, and it comes together in a very nice way," was how Campbell explained it.

As previously mentioned, Crane will be facing an old nemesis during the back half of the season - Dr. Japeth Leeds. The man was reportedly Franklin's rival when it came to alchemy and at one point, Leeds transformed himself into the creature known as the Jersey Devil.

Despite "Sleepy Hollow's" cast and crew remaining mum on Abbie's return, fans believe it's a given that she will be coming back to the town, especially as the show has already casted James McDaniel to play the Miller sisters' estranged father. Abbie and Jenny had talked about their father several times in season 3 and now it seems fans the Miller family will finally be reunited.

"Sleepy Hollow" season 3 will be moving to a Friday timeslot when it resumes the season on Feb. 5.
