"Sleepy Hollow" may have had a disappointing second season, but that has not stopped the Fox supernatural drama from sprucing up its third season. New faces, new plot lines and a possible romance between Ichabod and Abbie after his wife Katrina's death can be expected in the forthcoming season this fall.

TVLine reports exclusively that Betsy Ross will make an appearance in at least one episode of "Sleepy Hollow." For fans who cannot recall the feisty character that was mentioned in the first and second season, Ross is a colonial-era seamstress whom legend says stitched the first American flag.

But that is not the only thing intriguing about Ms. Ross' character. She is Ichabod's old flame and lady friend. The former Captain had mentioned Ross' name in seasons one and two and now fans will finally have a face to identify the famous name.

The actress playing Betsy Ross will be cast in a recurring role throughout season three. Ross is described as a sexy and surprisingly strong spy who works in George Washington's Culper Ring. She is also ruthless, smart, and fearless and blends in with any situation, no matter what it demands. The publication describes her as a Mrs. Smith to Ichabod's Mr. Smith.

It is not clear if the sexy siren will appear in flashbacks or recur in present-day in the town of Sleepy Hollow. Perhaps more will be known about Ross and the upcoming season's plot as the "Sleepy Hollow" panel graces Comic-Con next week. Another TVLine article informs its readers that stars Tom Mison, Nicole Beharie and Lyndie Greenwood will take the stage alongside the executive producers of the show for an exclusive sneak peek into the highly anticipated third season.

While season two viewer ratings were down, "Sleepy Hollow" managed to grab more eyeballs on its season two finale episode. Perhaps the addition of Betsy Ross and the elimination of Ichabod's son and wife will pave the way for new and interesting storylines in season three.
