'Sleepy Hollow' season 3 spoilers: Will Abbie sacrifice her soul to stop The Hidden One in episode 18? Crane brings the Headless Horseman back to life

(Facebook/SleepyHollow)Will Abbie be able to stop the Hidden One?

The season finale of "Sleepy Hollow" season 3 is in the horizon and fans are worried about the Witnesses' chances of survival when they go up against The Hidden One. But more importantly, is this the show's final season?

"Sleepy Hollow" season 3's penultimate episode saw Abbie (Nicole Beharie) and Crane (Tom Mison) using Betsy's (Nikki Reed) flag to gain entrance into the catacombs where they discover Miss Ross herself! However, that one bright spot was overshadowed by the fact that Joe (Zach Appelman) was turned into a wendigo again by The Hidden One (Peter Mensah) and Jenny (Lyndie Greenwood) had to shoot him in the chest.

Hopefully their sacrifices will amount to something in the season finale. According to the synopsis for episode 18, "Ragnarok," the Witnesses realize "what they must do in order to make Pandora's box complete again." While they struggle to complete it, Jenny, Sophie (Jessica Camacho), Reynolds (Lance Gross), and Pandora (Shannyn Sossamon) work to derail The Hidden One's quest to destroy humanity.

The trailer for season 3's last episode hints at what the Witnesses have to do if they want to take down The Hidden One and they won't be happy. The trailer unfolds with Crane, Abbie, and Jenny planning their next move, followed by a scene showing the two Witnesses with Pandora. Crane is holding a familiar looking skull and calls forth the "dark rider." The Horseman is then seen riding again.

How Crane's former best friend and enduring nemesis will be of help is not yet known. But what's clear from the trailer is that an explosion throws Crane away. Pandora's box is now complete and she tells Abbie that it needs an eternal soul. She encourages the FBI agent to give the box what it needs. The clip ends with Abbie apparently getting ready to make the sacrifice. She opens the box just as Crane screams a desperate "No!"

"Sleepy Hollow" has been on the bubble the past few months, as its ratings continue to go down, despite a new showrunner and attempts by the writers to recapture the magic of its first season. Despite that, there's no denying the show has a solid fan base that's been consistent in generating buzz for the show on social media. Hopefully, this will be enough for Fox to give the series another shot at regaining its former glory.

The season finale of "Sleepy Hollow" season 3 will be aired on Apr. 8.
