Time is running out for the Witnesses as the Hidden One has almost regained all his powers. And with just two episodes left in season 3 and ratings still low, has time also ran out for "Sleepy Hollow?"

The previous episode saw The Hidden One's (Peter Mensah) better half apparently deciding to cast her lot with the Witnesses now that she has realized that her husband has no intention of treating her as an equal, much less someone who will rule by his side. But to defeat the Hidden One, someone has to go back to the catacombs, the only place where Pandora's (Shannyn Sossamon) box can be restored. This prompts Agent Abbie Mills (Nicole Beharie) and Ichabod Crane (Tom Mison) to look for the original flag that Betsy Ross made so they can find their way to the catacombs.

The journey to the catacombs now seems set. According to a synopsis for episode 17, "Delaware," Abbie and Crane only have a day left before The Hidden One becomes omnipotent once more, prompting the two to "do the unthinkable in a last-ditch effort to save the world." While the Witnesses go about their mission, Jenny (Lyndie Greenwood), Joe (Zach Appelman), and Sophie (Jessica Camacho) will come up with a plan to stall the Hidden One.

Things seem certainly dire in the trailer for the upcoming episode, which unfolds with the Hidden One looking at the golden hour glass. Pandora tells Ichabod, Abbie, and the others that they don't stand a chance of winning without her. Interestingly, Reynolds (Lance Gross) now stands with them. Abbie emphasizes the seriousness of the situation with her statement that the Hidden One will soon become omnipotent.

Our heroes are then seen fighting off a horned creature, which looks a little like a wendigo. The Hidden One threatens someone that he will take his or her life slowly. His victim remains unseen, but viewers can hear a pained moan. The trailer ends with Crane somberly saying that "victory comes at a terrible loss."

That certainly doesn't sound good, and fans are undoubtedly wondering what the price of victory is. Does it mean that they will lose a comrade?

The past two episodes finally recaptured the magic that made "Sleepy Hollow's" first season a hit. Unfortunately, it appears that even though the show has finally found its footing, it's all for naught as the low ratings point to an inevitable cancellation.

"Sleepy Hollow" season 3's penultimate episode is set to be aired on April 1.
