'Skate 4' release date update: game a no-show at this year's E3
Electronic Arts (EA) is having quite a handful at EA Play as of the moment, with all the latest offerings that they have rolled out, including "Titanfall 2," "Mass Effect: Andromeda," and "Battlefield 1." However, one of their popular titles — "Skate 4" — is missing, and fans wonder why. Having said that, it seems that followers of the "Skate" franchise will have to wait longer for another "Skate" game to be released.
The popular skateboarding video game being a no-show at this year's Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3), which is being held from June 14 to 16, does not mean that EA will be discontinuing the franchise. Previous "Skate" games did an impressive run and resulted in fans flooding EA's social media accounts with requests and questions as to when the next installment will be released. However, EA made it known early last month that it has not started working on any "Skate" game. A Twitter post from the company read, "We love the passion our players feel for the Skate franchise. A new game is not in development, but we appreciate your feedback."
What "Skate" fans will have to look out for, though, is the next game's gameplay and crisp graphics. Since the game studio is using the development engine Frostbite in making "Mass Effect: Andromeda" and other games, it is most likely that it will be using it in the yet-to-be-announced "Skate 4" as well.
Meanwhile, EA is one of the busiest game studios these days, now that "Mass Effect: Andromeda" is turning out to be one of the best games this year. Its World War 1 first-shooter video game "Battlefield 1" is also set to be one of the strong contenders in the shooter genre. Furthermore, there are a number of "Star Wars" games currently being developed. All these major titles are expected to the main focus of EA as of the moment.
