It seems like BBC is starting to feel the fans' clamor for more "Sherlock" updates. After releasing a brand new "Sherlock" Special image, the British network shortly gave the first teaser for the said Christmas special.

After BBC dropped the image of Sherlock Holmes (Benedict Cumberbatch) and John Watson (Martin Freeman) in their Victorian era outfits, co-creator, co-executive producer, writer, and actor Mark Gatiss teased fans some more with the tweet, which read, "Oh you thought that was all? Hmm. 12.15am UK time - something a little more substantial. Merry Christmas! #Sherlock."

And the network seconded this with a separate tweet that asked all "Sherlock" fans to ready their shock blankets. And the fans were indeed shocked — in a good way.

BBC One has just released the very first teaser for the "Sherlock" Special set in the Victorian era. The teaser started off with a shot of the sign of Baker Street, where the show's main characters reside. Viewers then finally get a first look at Mrs. Hudson (Una Stubbs), Sherlock, and John. The three engage in their usual fun banters, this time about John's new stories, as well as Mrs. Hudson's classic "I'm your landlady" line. It ends with a promising, "Sherlock Coming Soon-ish."

That teaser ending had fans speculating that the Special is arriving sooner than the rumored December premiere. Those closely following "Sherlock" news also speculate that the Special will be based off Sir Arthur Conan Dyle's Sherlock story "The Adventure of the Blue Carbuncle." Den of Geek pointed out a few tweets from Gatiss and Special director Douglas Mackinnon that quoted the said story.

Asked why they decided to have the 2015 Special in the Victorian era, co-creator and co-executive producer Steve Moffatt told Entertainment Weekly, "We discovered there was some precedent for doing Sherlock in the Victorian era.... It's very much the show you know. It's the Sherlock as you know it, but in the correct era. It's one of the best ones we've made. I think it's really terrific."
